I have been wanting to rent out my house when I move. I'm going to be living about 100 miles from the property. Do you think I should hire a property management company? I am hoping to retire in that house so I definitely don't want anything to happen to it. Thanks for the advice!

While making the decision to hire a property management company is a personal choice, there are pros and cons to it for you to consider.

First, if you can not afford the fees then that is a con. Also, some people, even living far away, prefer to be "hands on" with their own properties.

However, if you are too far away to get to the house quickly or are afraid of making a long trip to check in on the property, then hiring a property manager is a good idea. Make sure to fully vet and verify the property manager you are considering and perhaps interview three in order to make sure you get the right person for the job.
