The Division of Real Estate (DRE) and Colorado Real Estate Commission (CREC) recently put out a notice asking for comments on forms and contracts. The 2013 CREC Annual Update Course also includes information on how a broker can make comments to the DRE/CREC on the forms and contracts.
In a change from what used to be seen as somewhat secret meetings, the staff will now review the comments from the public. The idea is to generate a larger and ongoing discussion about the forms and contracts and engage the real estate community with the process in a more transparent way.
We are publishing the notice from the DRE below. Please note that comments directed to the DRE should be combined into one notification. This will reduce the work on the staff's part while also allowing greater opportunity that the submission is included in the process.
From the DRE/CREC:
The Division of Real Estate and the Colorado Real Estate Commission are seeking your input on the 2013 Mandatory Real Estate Contracts and Forms. In an effort to streamline the process and reduce the number of forms changes, licensees have the opportunity to offer suggestions on how to improve the forms. Comments and suggestions will be accepted via email until March 1, 2013.
You can submit your comments to: [email protected]
Please compile multiple comments into one email submission to cut down on the number of orrespondence that Division staff will need to review.
Division staff will compile comments and recommendations and will then present proposed suggestions to the Commission's Forms Committee. It's the goal of the Division and the Committee to have all forms ready for Commission approval in August, and finalized "DRAFT" forms posted and distributed to educators and publishers by October 1, 2013.
